Regulations for Olympiad in other regions
Regulations for hosting a «Two by Two» Olympiad for elementary schools in other regions
If a region or a school («Organizer») is willing to host a «Two by Two» Olympiad for elementary schools («Olympiad»), they have to obey the following regulations:
0. Organizer provides the full name, email and phone number of the person (the “Coordinator”) who will serve as a middle party between Olympiad Organizing Committee in Moscow and the local Organizer. All further communications will be held directly with the Coordinator.
Participation applications must be sent by the Organizers to ivanova@mathbaby.ru strictly by Jan 10th 2020.
1. The Coordinator provides the exact address of the place where the Olympiad will take place and announces the Olympiad date (Feb 9th 2020) and time, considering the length of the Olympiad:
a. 1st grade – 1 hour since the participants receive the problem set, morning
b. 2nd grade – 1.5 hour since the participants receive the problem set, morning
c. 3rd grade – 1.5 hour since the participants receive the problem set, afternoon
d. 4th grade – 2 hours since the participants receive the problem set, afternoon
Also, Coordinator publishes the maximum number of children it can host at the location.
2. The Laboratory publishes the information about this regional location at the Olympiad website and announces the registration at that location.
3. No later than 8pm on Feb 8th the Laboratory sends the list of registered participants to the Organizer. By Feb 4th February the Laboratory sends info on the preliminary number of participants to the Organizer.
4. Laboratory sends the problem sets to the Coordinator. Formulations must be kept in secret from Olympiad participants. The Organizer is responsible for any leak of the problems.
5. The Organizer provides all necessary materials required to host the Olympiad. It also allocates all participants into rooms. The Coordinator must be available during the Olympiad, both via email and via phone. In the case any comments and/or remarks are made during the Olympiad, Coordinator must get in touch with Laboratory in advance.
6. After the Olympiad, Coordinator collects all materials received from participants and completes first grading of them, fills the results into an MS Excel spreadsheet and sends it to Laboratory. The Panel refines the criteria for grading and sends them to Coordinator. Criteria refinement is performed approximately in 5-9 days after the Olympiad, since it requires cross-grading with all the regions. After that, Organizer performs second grading and sends a new spreadsheet with the grading results. Panel may also request the scans of the winners’ works.
7. When the final grading is finished (approximately in 3-4 weeks after Olympiad), the list of the winners and medalists are published on the Olympiad website, and Laboratory sends the diplomas to Organizer.
8. Participation in Olympiad is free of charge. Work of the Organizers can be
compensated by local administration. Prizes that go with the diplomas can only be collected at the Award Ceremony in Moscow. Prizes can not be sent by mail.
Addendum for international organizers
1. Organizer of the Olympiad outside of Russia may set up the registration themselves instead of using the Olympiad website.
2. Problems are translated to the native language of participants by the Organizers at hosting locations. Organizer must send the translation to Laboratory, and the translation will be published on the Olympiad website.
3. By agreement with Laboratory, the region may receive conditions in English.
